Steel Fixer
Position: Steel Fixer (with National Grid Access)
Location: SE London
Project: Substation works
Hours: 07:30–17:30
Duration: Ongoing
Salary or Pay Rate: £270 per day
Requirements:

Minimum 2+ years’ experience as a Steel Fixer

Valid CSCS card
-
NG Persons ticket
-
Proven experience working on substation or heavy civils projects
-
Strong knowledge of health & safety in live environments
Key Responsibilities:
-
Cutting, bending, and fixing steel reinforcement to drawings and specifications
-
Installing rebar cages, mesh, and reinforcement for bases, slabs, plinths, and concrete structures
-
Reading and interpreting reinforcement drawings and bar schedules
-
Ensuring all steel fixing works meet quality and safety standards

Working safely within a live substation environment, following site procedures

Coordinating with shuttering carpenters and site supervision to maintain programme
-
Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work area
Qualifications and Experience:

CSCS (essential)

NG Persons ticket (essential)

Minimum 2 years’ proven experience as a Steel Fixer

Previous substation or utilities civils experience preferred
