Position Title: Site Manager – Civils & Utilities

Salary Range: £65K – £70K+
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee water utilities works as part of AMP8, with a strong focus on the construction of attenuation tanks and associated heavy civils infrastructure. This role will be responsible for leading site operations, ensuring safe and compliant delivery, coordinating multiple teams, and driving productivity on a technically demanding water utilities project.
Key Responsibilities
Site Leadership & Coordination

Manage day-to-day construction activities across attenuation tank construction, reinforced concrete works, drainage, earthworks, and associated civils activities.

Oversee subcontractors, direct labour, plant, and material requirements.

Ensure the project is delivered to programme, budget, and quality standards.
Health, Safety & Compliance

Lead on-site H&S, including RAMS reviews, site inductions, and toolbox talks.

Ensure full compliance with CDM regulations, water industry standards, and client safety requirements.

Manage safe systems of work around deep excavations, confined spaces, lifting operations, temporary works, and concrete works.
Technical & Operational Management

Coordinate the construction of attenuation tanks, reinforced concrete structures, formwork, rebar, pipework, chambers, drainage connections, and reinstatement works.

Work closely with engineering and technical teams to interpret drawings, specifications, and resolve site queries.

Monitor progress, maintain site diaries, and complete progress reports and permit-to-work documentation.

Liaise with water companies, framework partners, and local authorities as required.
Stakeholder Communication

Act as the main site point of contact for the client, project managers, engineers, and inspectors.

Ensure clear communication between site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and wider project stakeholders.

Attend progress meetings, escalate issues, and propose practical, buildable solutions.
Qualifications and Experience:

Proven experience as a Site Manager within civils and water utilities, ideally on AMP projects.

Strong background delivering attenuation tanks, reinforced concrete structures, deep excavations, and heavy civils works.

SMSTS (essential)

CSCS (Black or Gold)
-
Confined Spaces (Medium or High Risk preferred)

Temporary Works Coordinator / Supervisor (advantage)

First Aid at Work

Lifting Operations (desirable)

Full UK Driving Licence
Skills & Attributes

Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.

Ability to manage multiple subcontract packages in a live water utilities environment.

Highly safety-focused, proactive, and confident managing high-risk heavy civils works.

Good understanding of utilities standards and water industry requirements.

Problem solver with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
