Requirements: Foundation Personnel is looking for an experienced National Grid Competent Person who is also experienced in carrying out Traffic Marshall/Gateman duties. This is a dual role, with the successful candidate carrying out Traffic Marshall duties when not required to undertake Competent Person activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving and working under relevant safety documents/permits, ensuring all requirements are understood and followed.
- Controlling work areas and ensuring operatives work within agreed safe limits.
- Briefing the workforce on hazards, restrictions, access arrangements and relevant control measures.
- Monitoring people, plant and equipment to ensure work is carried out safely, particularly around electrical infrastructure.
- Maintaining safe access and egress and controlling activities around live or potentially hazardous infrastructure.
- Liaising with Site Management and Authorised Persons when work starts, changes or finishes.
- Stopping work where conditions change or agreed safety controls are no longer adequate.
- Accepting, holding and clearing relevant safety documents where required by the CP appointment.
- Carrying out Traffic Marshall/Gateman duties when CP duties are not required.
- Safely controlling and directing vehicle, plant and delivery movements around site.
- Maintaining pedestrian and vehicle segregation and ensuring designated traffic routes are followed.
- Monitoring site traffic arrangements and reporting hazards, near misses or safety concerns.
- Communicating effectively with drivers, plant operators and site personnel to maintain safe site movements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- EUSR National Grid Person
- EUSR Competent Person NSI 6&8
- CPCS A73 Plant and Vehicle Marshaller or recognised NPORS equivalent.
- Previous Traffic Marshall/Gateman experience.
- Previous experience working within utilities, energy or major infrastructure projects desirable.
