Competent Person
Position: Competent Person (NSI 6 & 8)
Location: Pelham Substation
Project: National Grid Substation Works
Hours: 07:00 – 17:00
Duration: 4–5 Months (Potential for Extension)
Salary or Pay Rate: £340 – £350 per day (depending on experience)
Requirements:

NSI 6 & NSI 8 Competent Person authorisations (essential)

Proven experience working on National Grid substations or transmission projects
-
Strong understanding of high-voltage systems and safe systems of work
-
Safety Critical Medical (preferred)
-
Valid CSCS / EUSR National Grid Person

Ability to work safely within live high-voltage environments

Strong knowledge of site safety procedures and isolation processes
Key Responsibilities:
-
Acting as Competent Person for high-voltage operations under NSI 6 & 8

Supporting the implementation of safe systems of work on National Grid infrastructure

Coordinating switching and isolation activities where required

Ensuring compliance with National Grid safety rules and site procedures

Liaising with project managers, SAPs, and site teams to ensure safe delivery of works

Monitoring site safety standards and reporting any issues or deviations
Qualifications and Experience:
-
Proven track record working on National Grid / transmission infrastructure projects
-
Experience operating within high-voltage substations (132kV – 400kV)
-
Strong understanding of National Grid Safety Rules and switching procedures
-
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary site teams
