Job Title: Superintendent 
Location: Boston, MA
 

Primary Function:

Supervise total construction efforts to ensure project is constructed in accordance with safety regulations, design, budget and schedule while having responsibility for providing on-site operations/production management, as well as supervision of local trade groups. Reports To General superintendent or Project Manager.

Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with all current safety regulations, design, budget and schedule.
  • Supervise craft employees and/or other contractors as required by the contract.
  • Provide technical assistance (e.g. interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc.) as required.
  • Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards, etc.
  • Ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc., documenting all violations and notifying project management.
  • Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
  • Assist in resolving construction problems as required.
  • Assist in maintaining communications with unions, resolving jurisdictional disputes, requisitioning required manpower, etc., as necessary.
  • Fully support EHS and Quality policies and regulations, ensuring that all Company and OSHA safety regulations are met and enforced.
  • Perform additional assignments per the Project Manager’s direction.

 

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

  • 4-year engineering degree, or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience.
  • Minimum 8 years supervisory experience in deep foundations projects and/or heavy construction. Grouting experience is a plus.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise large groups.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training and First-Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Knowledge of construction industry business practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including excellent verbal/written communication
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods).
  • Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills
