Position: Site Manager

Location: Southport

Project: Steel Structure Bridge Restoration

Hours: 07:30 – 17:30

Duration: 18 months

Salary or Pay Rate: Up to £65,000 per annum  + car allowance
 

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor for an experienced Site Manager to lead works on a Grade II listed steel structure bridge/pier in Southport, forming part of the restoration of the country’s second longest pier, which has been out of use since December 2022.

This role will involve managing site operations, coordinating specialist teams, and ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and in line with the constraints of a listed structure.


Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for day-to-day site management

  • Lead and manage site teams, subcontractors, and specialists

  • Coordinate with the Project Manager, engineers, designers, and survey teams

  • Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification

  • Oversee RAMS, permits, and site compliance

  • Manage quality control, particularly on steel structure works

  • Ensure compliance with listed structure and heritage requirements

  • Act as the main point of contact on site


Requirements

  • SMSTS (essential)

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on steel structure projects

  • Background working on bridges, piers, or complex steel frameworks

  • Experience on listed or heritage projects (highly desirable)

  • Strong leadership and organisational skills

  • Excellent knowledge of health & safety legislation and site controls

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders on complex projects
