Mains Layer
Position: Mains Layer (Clean Water)
Location: Thames Valley Region
Project: Clean Water – Mains Repairs & Emergency Works
Hours: 10hrs shift (flexibility required for emergency works)
Duration: Ongoing / Long-term opportunities available
Salary or Pay Rate: £220 per day
Requirements:
-
Proven experience working as a Water Mains Layer on clean water networks
-
EUSR Clean Water – National Water Hygiene (Blue Card) (essential)
-
Ideally a 2-person gang, holding machine tickets between them
-
Comfortable working on emergency and reactive works
-
Good understanding of live water environments
-
Previous Thames Water induction highly beneficial
Key Responsibilities:
-
Laying, repairing, and maintaining clean water mains
-
Carrying out emergency and weather-related reactive works
-
Excavation, pipe installation, jointing, and reinstatement
-
Working safely in trenches and around live services
-
Following RAMS and site-specific procedures
-
Liaising with supervisors to respond to urgent works
Qualifications and Experience:
-
EUSR Clean Water – National Water Hygiene (Blue Card)

CSCS or relevant EUSR utility card
-
CPCS/NPORS machine tickets (across the gang)
-
Manual Handling – beneficial
-
Confined Spaces – beneficial
-
Thames Water Passport – can be arranged for suitable candidates
About the Company:
You’ll be working with a well-established utilities contractor delivering essential clean water works across the Thames Valley. The business has a strong pipeline of emergency and planned works.
Please note: Successful candidates will be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test at induction, carried out by our end client, as part of their health and safety procedures.
