Mains Layer
Position: Gas Main & Service Layer / Groundworker
Location: Wigan, St Helens, Warrington & Runcorn/Widnes
Project: Gas Infrastructure -Main & Service Laying
Hours: 07:00 – 17:00
Duration: 12 months + (long-term, ongoing work)
Salary or Pay Rate: Competitive (DOE)
Requirements:
- Valid CSCS Card
- EUSR SHEA Gas
- Relevant Gas qualifications (e.g. NCO1 / Gas Network Operations)
- CPCS/NPORS for plant (under 10t excavator beneficial)
- Full orange PPE
- Previous experience in gas main and service laying
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation of gas mains and services in line with project specifications
- Operating plant (under 10t) where required
- Working safely in live environments and around existing utilities
- Trenching, pipe laying, backfilling, and reinstatement works
- Ensuring all works comply with health & safety regulations
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in gas infrastructure or utilities projects
- Strong understanding of safe digging practices and live services
- Ability to work as part of a gang and follow site instructions
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work to programme deadlines
