Foundation Personnel, a leading Heavy Civils & Geotechnical recruitment agency, is currently seeking a qualified Asphalt Project Manager to join our client team.
About the client:
Our client is one of the most highly regarded General Contractors in South Carolina, specializing in grading, paving, and utilities. Most recently, they launched a Marine Division that focuses on constructing docks, sea walls, bulkheads, sheet piling, riprap, concrete revetment, and precast bridges. They work as a turn-key general contractor and subcontractor for many local marine contractors.
Job Title: Asphalt Project Manager
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to the team and maintain a healthy relationship with General Contractors, Owners, and Inspectors.
- Ensure employees and our subcontractors work in a safe manner and maintain a professional demeanor. This includes traffic control, proper PPE and proper lighting.
- Ensure that all contract documents are current and have an understanding of the plans, timeline and details to execute a successful project.
- Ensure that the schedule is being met or exceeded, identify if more help is needed as work progresses and design deficiencies are resolved in a timely manner.
- Coordinate the sourcing of equipment, materials, supplies, and subcontractors needed to perform the required work. Especially trucking in this market area. This cant be stressed enough.
- Plan your work around the availability of trucks.
- Ensure preconstruction activities such as ensuring grades are correct, compaction testing or proof rolls are completed/passed.
- Verify equipment is in proper working order. Report deficiencies. Coordinate survey/layout and striping as needed to complete Ensure work being completed is of top quality and meets specifications. Ensure completed work is invoiced. Ensure any changes that are added/deleted are approved and documented/reported. Amend weekly scheduling and progress meetings with Management and fellow managers.
Role Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Project Manager in paving, asphalt, grading or utilities
- Extensive knowledge of specific techniques, tools, and materials
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- OSHA certification and knowledge of safety regulations
- Proficiently navigate and operate computers and tablets.
- Availability and willingness to work weekends and night shifts per business needs.
- Availability and willingness to work out of town and travel to project location.
- Understand construction safety standards and productively work safely.
